For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1950 Parker 51 Aerometric Fountain Pen & Pencil Set in the scarce Midnight Blue Color. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now in wonderful writing condition.
I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, collector, breather tube, and hood. Replaced the old glass-ply sac with a new, properly sized one. Hand cleaned the Cap & Arrow Clip, Clutch Ring, 14K Parker NIB, and the Aerometric Filling Body. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel and hood to bring back the vibrancy of the fountain pen and to protect the plastic. This Parker 51 is full size and measures 5 3/8" capped and 5 7/8" posted. The Pencil measures 5 1/8" in length. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel.
This fountain pen cap, barrel, and hood are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The cap has the Feather Arrow Clip that displays no wear/brassing. The cap is a Lustraloy type with no denting with a gorgeous frosty finish on both caps. The cap is clearly stamped with, "PARKER" on the lip of the cap. The barrel is stamped, "Made in U.S.A. with date code 50 (for 1950) in the 4th Quarter". I have tested the Aerometric filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The filling system, typically in my tests with water, will fill nearly full in roughly 4 to 7 presses.
The Parker NIB is 14K type with a medium point. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .74mm when measured with digital calipers. This fountain pen has never been inked and wanted to keep it this way for the new owner so I did not perform a writing sample.
This Parker 51 comes with the original box. The box is in fine to very fine condition with some water staining - not perfect but better than most.
The Parker Aerometric Pencil is a Cap-activated type. Push down on the cap and the lead will propel outward.
Midnight Blue color Parker 51s are desirable and this one is absolutely gorgeous with the frosty white caps. I would consider this Parker to be in Excellent. It is certainly ready to write with or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
